ICT in Education Victoria is the pre-eminent Victorian professional association that provides support and leadership to all educators in the use of ICT in teaching and learning. ICTEV is an education body that aims to provide exemplary professional services to members and a vibrant, expert presence within the Victorian educational community. ICTEV promotes ICT within all levels of education and advocates the positive role ICT plays in enhancing teaching and learning.
For 30 years ICTEV has been dedicated to the support of Victorian teachers by introducing and developing strategies for the use of the computer in the classroom, and to use ICT tools in appropriate and effective ways for the development of student outcomes.
ICT in Education Victoria supports teachers and educators working across the curriculum, in all sectors of Victorian education: including secondary teachers across all curriculum areas; primary classroom teachers and specialists; managers of learning technologies in secondary and primary schools; principals and school leadership teams; school network managers and technicians; and tertiary ICT educators and consultants. Membership is drawn from the state, catholic and independent school sectors.
The state council and committees of ICTEV include secondary and primary school teachers and IT leaders from all Victorian school sectors as well as leading ICT staff from university faculties of education, and DEECD and CEO representatives.
ICT in Education Victoria is the Victorian member of the national peak body, the Australian Council for Computers in Education (ACCE), with membership links to the industry body Australian Computer Society (ACS) and the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP). Two ICTEV state councillors sit on the IFIP Technical Committee's Research and Primary Working Groups.
ICTEV supports and promotes best practice through its publications and participation in innovative projects with the Technology Education Federation of Australia (TEFA), participation in ACEC (Australian ICT in Education conference) and WCCE (World Conference in Computer Education), and publications through the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). ICTEV supports school-based innovation, research and teacher education through the ICTEV Teacher of the Year and ICTEV Leader of the Year Awards and grants. It is a matter of pride that Victorian educators have gone on to win the national ICT education awards highlighting the high calibre of Victorian teachers.
