This is an excellent opportunity for teachers to see first hand the integration of ICT into the classroom programs.

Stop One: 9.00 – 10.45 am Buninyong Primary School 202 Simpson Street Buninyong
Hosts: Julie Gall and Kerry Nicholson
Buninyong Primary School is a large regional school with approximately 600 students on 2 campuses. Buninyong Primary School has integrated the use of ICT extensively across the school in both areas of curriculum development and administrative application. As a former Navigator School, ICT is used regularly and routinely within classrooms particular within Early Years Literacy and Numeracy activities. Our current focus on new and innovative teaching and learning approaches is supported by the use of ICT, with an emphasis on thinking skills. Visitors will tour our school, spend time in classrooms talking with teachers and students and discuss the use of policies, planning and school wide approaches.

Stop Two: 11.15 am - 1pm Ballarat North Primary School
Host: Ange Cleary
At Ballarat North Primary School, ICT is used in classroom programs to support learning in all KLA’s as well as for administrative purposes. During your visit, we will discuss the logistics of how computers are used throughout the school and how we are overcoming the issues we face. Examples of work produced in classrooms will be shown, and visitors will have the opportunity to experiment with some of our resources, such as the digital microscope, as well as produce short animations and slide shows with voice-overs.

Stop Three: 1.20 - 3.15pm Pleasant Street Primary School Pleasant Street Ballarat
Host: James Robertson
Pleasant Street Primary School has been recently rebuilt with classrooms only two years old. The new facilities provide computers in each classroom as well as a dedicated computer room. The tour will give visitors an overview of the school’s planning for its ICT facilities, the budget requirements to maintain these resources and how they are incorporated into classroom programs. The software programs used in the school will also be discussed.
One of the programs the school uses is the Scholastic program LEXILE, an individual reading program. The program utilises commercially produced as well as teacher created support material. This will be demonstrated and its various components explained. The school’s homepage can be viewed at http://www.pleasantstps.vic.edu.au
